QUARTER FINAL

The eight players that qualified to the knockout stage are listed below.

  1. IM Aikhoje Odion
  2. Odafe Efemuai
  3. Dasaolu Rotimi

The format of the knockout was 2games to be played at the normal 5+3secs added on time control. In case of a tie, they would play 2games of 3+2secs added on time control. In case of a tie, they would play an Armageddon where white will have 5minutes and black would have 4minutes. The downside is, White must win.

Ajibola Olanrewaju was paired against Dasaolu Rotimi in the first round, which ended in Dasaolu Rotimi winning with 2 straight wins.

Ewi Yemi versus IM Oladapo Adu was quite interesting. They played 1-1 in 5mins+3secs added time and went for 3mins+2secs added tie break. IM Oladapo won to scale through to semifinal.

FM Onovughe Ochuko versus CM Adesina Adeyinka saw the CM using all the surgical skills in could think of to defeat Onovughe Ochuko in the first tie break to qualify for the semifinal.

The most interesting game was the game between Odafe Efemuai vs IM Odion Aikhoje. Let’s not forget that IM Odion Aikhoje defeated Odafe Efemuai in the qualifying for the knockout stage.
